Automated Selection of Designs for Thin-Film Electroluminescent Displays for Avionics 56_13.pdf

The development of methods and means for testing the applicability of thin-film electroluminescent indicator devices as displays for displaying navigation and technical information in aircraft is carried out. Thin-film electroluminescent displays are used in equipment and systems that require high image quality and reliability as well as a long service life of the devices. The result of the performed work is the ExpAT program, which allows to carry out a computational experiment to test of the applicability of the TFEL indicator devices in aeronautical engineering. The algorithm of the program includes iterative calculations of the indicator parameters at user-defined intervals, comparing them with the specified ones and recording the results. As a result of the computational experiment, variants of structures of thin-film emitting structures that meet the operating conditions of indicators in avionics are shown.

Automated Calculation of Ergonomic Parameters of the Information Display Means At the Workplace of the Air Traffic Controller 000_10.pdf

One of the most important elements of a workplace of an air traffic controller of air traffic services are means of displaying information ensuring the functioning of the man-machine mode in accordance with the system standards of ergonomic requirements and ergonomic assurance. The analysis and comparison of parameters of information displays for the workplace of the air traffic controller was held in the article from the point of view of manufacturability, ergonomics and safety. The thin-film electroluminescent displays are preferred to use taking into account the implementation of regulatory requirements. In the framework of the ergonomic design, the software for calculation of brightness parameters of indicators and the distance location of the screen relative to the operator: minimum and maximum values of optimum and maximum permissible distances of observation was developed. The software module was written in Object Pascal in the Delphi 7 environment. The presented software product provides automation of calculations of the ergonomic characteristics necessary in design of the working environment and workstation of an air traffic controller, and can also be used for other workstations.

A development and a solution of designing problems of the advanced thin-film electroluminescent (TFEL) display devices is an important undertaking in the engineering field. The development and optimization of the TFEL display design is a complex task and requires a considerable work of the engineer. The solution of this problem can be accomplished by the use of automation means. Therefore, the development of the TFEL indicator design algorithm and calculation program is essential.
